Djibouti, December 17, 2024—The Secretary General of the Ministry of the Interior chaired a national consultation workshop on social cohesion. The event brought together Prefects (government representatives in the regions), Presidents of Regional Councils (elected officials), and key actors from civil society.
The discussions highlighted the importance of economic opportunities as a foundation for building, strengthening, and maintaining social cohesion. Participants emphasized the need to develop infrastructure, which is essential for driving economic growth and improving access to essential services.
Moreover, the significance of a community-based approach, relying on a “bottom-up” dynamic, was strongly emphasized.
