The European Union adopted significant financing decisions on September 16 in support of the Pillars 1 and 2 project implementation. The infrastructure connectivity and regional economic integration are breakthrough projects under the Horn of Africa Initiative Program designed to improve the economic corridors serving the five member-states of the Horn.
The funding will support the coordination activities and the research and technical assistance related to regional infrastructure connectivity.
Although the framework for the project’s implementation has already been laid out, the socio-economic-political diversity of the regions in the Horn should be taken into account to be able to design a region-specific approach.
