The Horn of Africa Initiative (HoAI) Regional Trade Facilitation Committee (RTFC) held its inaugural meeting today in Nairobi, hosted at the KfW offices.
The Committee welcomed Somalia as the new Chair, taking the lead in guiding the Committee’s work and advancing the regional trade facilitation agenda.
The Committee adopted its Terms of Reference and Rules of Procedure, agreed on its working groups and coordination modalities with national stakeholders, and identified the technical assistance required to support its work.
The meeting also featured the presentation of the Regional Trade Facilitation Scorecard which will serve as a mechanism to monitor progress in implementing the objectives and activities of the HoAI Trade Facilitation Roadmap.
The meeting marks an important step towards strengthening regional coordination and advancing trade facilitation across the Horn of Africa.
Special appreciation is extended to Germany for its technical leadership and continued support to the work of the Committee and the HoAI Trade Facilitation agenda.
